Marriage Counseling and Insurance Benefits

• Insurance benefits may not be utilized as the primary payment method for couples counseling sessions, as insurance companies typically do not deem this as medically necessary. However, you can use your insurance benefits for individual counseling sessions. If your therapist recognizes the value of involving a family member, such as a spouse, in your treatment, you may bring them in for support during some individual sessions. It’s important to note that sessions specifically focused on marriage counseling must be privately paid for.

Private-Pay Rates

If you’ve browsed through my site, I hope you’ve noticed that I do things a little differently. That’s fine with me, different is good.

My focus is always on my clients, and my goal is always their healing. Many therapists have a diagnosis as their goal, instead of a tool that is sometimes used to assist in healing. I’ve found that diagnoses can lead to coping instead of healing.

When possible, I don’t rush through sessions. Too often, therapists are pressured to look at a clock over and over again to ensure that they will be finished in time and don’t focus on the clients.

When you schedule a private-pay session with me, your visit is completely confidential. Unless you are at risk of doing harm to yourself or someone else, everything we discuss is private. I do not submit a mental health diagnosis to an insurance agency or exchange information with a third party.
